Hi,
I
have hair that is fine and am losing hair in the same pattern as my father who's hair is coarse. However, I am losing it earlier than my father did and appears thinner than his did. I have noticed that my scalp often itches at the points in which I am losing my hair (front and crown), could this be a symptom of why I am losing my hair? I'm not to the point at which I want to go through or could afford hair transplant surgery. Are there any medications/topical solutions are there that do indeed help prevent hair loss or even regrow hair?
Thanks,
– James

99% of hair loss is genetic. So you’re probably right about an inherited trait. The degree and speed one loses their hair can vary. The important point is you need to act fast. Prevention is better than rushing into hair transplantation. You can always consider that later, but you want to hold on to what you have and prevent more loss.
There are two FDA-approved drugs for treating hair loss, as well as Laser Hair Therapy, which is completely safe and has no side effects. I’m including a recommendation for a qualified expert in your town that can go over these treatment options with you.
